How to register an additional service provided by a second supplier within the same shipment.
When should you use this setting?
2. Assign the primary supplier
3. Split the segment to create the additional supplier segment
4. Assign the additional provider - Add the corresponding accessory to the additional service
Additional notes and recommendations
Introduction
In certain logistics operations, a shipment may involve more than one transport or service provider.
This occurs when one carrier performs the primary transport of the load, while another provider participates in the operation by providing a complementary service, such as:
Loading or unloading maneuvers
Security guard or escort
Internal movements in the courtyard
Use of specialized equipment (crane, forklift)
In these cases, it is common for:
A carrier receives the base shipment cost.
And the second supplier receives payment of an accesorial charge associated with the transaction
The platform allows this scenario to be managed within a single shipment, maintaining one main carrier and registering the second provider's service as an accessory through two separate segments.
When should you use this setting?
This should be used when there is one main carrier and an additional service provided by another supplier within the same shipment.
Common examples:
| Carrier | Service |
|---|---|
| Carrier A | Primary transportation |
| Carrier B | Unloading maneuver |
| Carrier | Service |
|---|---|
| Carrier A | Primary transportation |
| Carrier B | Custody |
| Carrier | Service |
|---|---|
| Carrier A | Primary transportation |
| Carrier B | Towing service |
Step by step
1. Create the load as usual
Create the load following the usual flow within the system.
Detail of the newly created load segment.
2. Assign the primary supplier
In the Show segments/Assign carrier field, assign the carrier that will perform the main transport of the shipment.
This will be the supplier responsible for the shipment and will be assigned the base cost.
3. Split the segment to create the additional supplier segment
In order to correctly register the additional provider's service, it is necessary to create an additional segment within the load.
To do this, use the option Split segment on the existing segment.
When performing the split, specify the same destination as the original segment as the split point and set the segment cost to 0.
In this way:
It does not involve movement.
The cost of primary transportation remains unchanged.
An additional segment is created that will allow the service accesorial to be associated with the additional provider.
4. Assign the additional provider - Add the corresponding accesorial to the additional service
Assign the second carrier at zero cost.
And in the "Commission" tab, add an accesorial that represents the additional service provided in the transaction.
In the same cost section, add an accesorial that represents the additional service provided in the operation.
Example:
| Concept | Amount |
|---|---|
| Freight | 30000 MXN |
| Heavy load | 2000 MXN |
Expected result
Once the process is complete:
The load will have a primary carrier responsible for transportation.
The additional service will be recorded as accesorials.
The supplier that performed that service will be correctly associated with the corresponding cost.
This allows you to manage transactions with multiple suppliers within the same shipment without having to create additional records.
Additional notes and recommendations
Use this flow when there is a primary carrier and an additional provider for a one-time service.
If the transport is divided between several carriers performing different legs of the journey, another type of operational configuration must be evaluated.
Correctly recording accesorials facilitates cost traceability and financial analysis of operations.
