Introduction to the ETA process
Introduction to the ETA process
The ETA refers to Estimated Time of Arrival. This helps within the logistics and courier processes to have a prediction of when a load or package will arrive at the destination.
In the system we have the advantage that there is an internal ETA process that can help us to understand if the load has any delay or if it will be delivered on time and in the right way.
ETA calculation
For the ETA calculation, the system takes into account the distance between the last tracked point (by any type of tracking), in case there are pending stops they are also taken into account.
In case the time the load has been in the In Transit status plus the remaining time to the destination exceeds the allowed driving time limit, the system also adds a resting time to the calculation.
Lights on the load board
The load board shows a field of the table representing the ETA calculation of that load with a traffic light:
- Green: In case the time and date of the calculated ETA is before the drop-off date and time.
- Orange: In case the time and date of the calculated ETA is after the date and time of drop-off, with a margin of 0 to 30 minutes.
- Red: In case the time and date of the calculated ETA is after the drop-off date and time with a difference of 30 minutes or more.
Special points
-In the case that the ETA cannot be calculated, a notification message will be sent to the chat room "ETA Calculation failed"
-Every time an ETA is calculated and the traffic light shows as red, a new notification message will be sent to the chat room "ETA not accomplished"
-In case the segment is Cancelled, the drop-off location is updated to the drop-off location of the last active segment.
