Examples of Geofences & Automatic Status Changes
Facilities & Geofences
As we saw in our article on creating facilities, correctly creating them in the system at the beginning of setting up your account offers numerous benefits.
And one of them is the possibility of taking advantage of geofences for the automated, real-time operation of your shipments:
- When you create your Facilities, you have the option of entering their exact location in Google Maps using different methods.
- Once you enter the location of the facility where your shipments originate or are destined, the system will create a geofence with a diameter of 0.5 miles relative to the location.
- Thanks to automated shipment tracking and the work of our operators, the positions of the units in the shipment are recorded.
- When the unit enters the geofence surrounding your Facility, the platform automatically changes the corresponding status.
- If you have automated notifications enabled, the system will also automatically notify you with this relevant information about your shipment.
Examples of Geofences & Automatic Status Changes
Here are some examples of the use and operation of this feature, which is highly appreciated by our shippers:
- When a load in Dispatched status approaches the geofence of the pickup location, the system automatically changes the status to In Pickup and notifies all involved parties.
- When a load that was being loaded at the origin location with its corresponding Pickup status moves away and leaves the geofence, the system automatically changes the load to In Transit and notifies all involved parties.
- When a load in transit approaches its destination point recorded in the system (warehouse, transfer, yards, customs broker, etc.), the system automatically changes the load to In Port of
- Crossing and notifies the involved parties.
- When a load that began its transit enters the geofence of the destination location, the system automatically changes the load to In Destination and notifies the involved parties.
- Etc.
